  1. I gotta ask- What are garlic scapes?

  2. I keep meaning to post about the scapes, but I somehow managed to pick 50 and photograph 0. Basically it is a flower stalk produced by hardneck garlics. Conventional wisdom says you should cut them off so that the plant can put more of its energy into growing the bulb rather than into producing the tiny little bulblets up in the scape. I don't know if it makes much difference, but I keep doing it because they are soooo tasty.
