Yay! My new bulb garden is doing much better than I expected! I remember reading something from the Maryland extension last year about how it was still possible to plant fall bulbs in the spring, but they would be unlikely to bloom the first year. So far everything that has come up has bloomed (or has buds on it) and I count 3 out of 4 types of flowers already up, so I think that's a rousing success! It looks so much better than that ratty old, litter-strewn multiflora rose, too. Oh, I know that thing is lurking under the surface, waiting to jump out and strangle everything as soon as the heat and the bugs chase me inside. But for now, I think I'll savor my temporary victory...
